Held during the first weekend of October, the Canal Colors Festival is Houghton's premier celebration of the stunning fall foliage along the Portage Canal. The event captures the essence of the U.P. fall vibe with outdoor gatherings, local food vendors, and a marketplace of handmade goods. A highlight of the weekend is the community 'Plaidurday' photo, where attendees don their best flannel to honor the region’s culture. With live music at the Waterfront Pier and children’s activities throughout downtown, it is the perfect way to welcome the harvest season.
