Dark Forest at Powell Gardens

Created in partnership with the multimedia group Quixotic, Dark Forest is a high-tech, sensory-driven experience set within the botanical gardens. Guests wander a winding trail through the woods, encountering spellbinding light installations and performers dressed as forest spirits. Unlike traditional haunted houses, Dark Forest focuses on wonder and mystery rather than gore or jump scares, making it suitable for older children and adults. The event also features a 'Mystic Faire' with food, drinks, and seasonal gifts before guests enter the trail. It is widely considered one of the most visually stunning and unique Halloween experiences in the Kansas City region.
