The annual Detroit Tree Lighting at Campus Martius Park is a high-energy celebration featuring live musical performances and award-winning figure skaters. Thousands of people gather to watch Santa lead the countdown to illuminate the city's towering Christmas tree, which is adorned with thousands of LED lights. The evening includes food trucks, horse-drawn carriage rides, and the official opening of the ice skating rink. It is widely considered the premier kickoff event for the holiday season in Metro Detroit.
